Beyond Rosie: Utah Women and the World War Two Home Front

Lesson Overview

World War Two reshaped the American society and economy and brought significant changes to Utah. Utah women contributed to the war effort in the paid workforce, through volunteer service, and in advocating for human rights at home and across the globe. In this lesson, students will analyze the roles of Utah women during WWII by examining their contributions to the workforce, home front, and advocacy in order to understand how the war reshaped gender roles and civic participation in Utah.

Recommended Instructional Time: 45 – 60 minutes
